LONCETT Activities & Initiatives
LONCETT facilitates key initiatives that explore current challenges in initial teacher training and continuing professional development in the lifelong learning sector. The insights and knowledge gained are at the core of information, advice and examples of good practice disseminated by LONCETT. Key activities include:
Action research projects
With the emphasis on expanding access to ITT and developing specialist pedagogies LONCETT facilitates three action research projects linked to curriculum development focusing on:
- Teachers and tutors in adult and community learning
- Teachers and instructors in prison and offender learning
- Vocational skills teachers in further education and work-based learning
Five small-scale mentoring action research projects focus on the the following areas:

Specialist communities
Connected to the action research projects specialist communities have been set up to offer an opportunity to share and exchange ideas on current topics. Regular meetings are held by the
