Prison Education Dissemination Event

Posted: 30 November 2009 The LONCETT Initial Teacher Training project for teachers and instructors in prison and offender education will hold a dissemination event on 29th January 2010 between 10am – 4pm titled ‘Neglected Perspectives on Teacher Education in Prisons.’ The event will take place at the Institute of Education, University of London. The event is aimed at initial teacher educators (generic and specialists in Literacy, Numeracy and ESOL) and teachers, managers and professionals who work in prisons and offender learning. Presenting at the event will be Sue O’Hara (Offender Learning Director, LSC), Julia Braggins (Researcher and author on prison education) and Pat Jones from the Prisoners’ Education Trust. Workshops at the event will focus on mentoring new teachers in prison education and how initial teacher training for different groups of prison educators can be contextualised.
